Harbor Park Bird Photos
Ross' Goose
Here is a collection of pictures
showing some of the incredible bird diversity,
and beauty, one can find at the site.
With few exceptions these are species
which are regularly seen and easily found
at the park. I can see no reason why
every school kid in L.A. hasn't seen most
of these incredible animals in person,
except that it has not been considered
important or of value. It ain't ballsports.
In order to reduce download times, they
are broken into smaller groups, usually
of related types, e.g. "gulls," or "ducks."
Almost all of the pictures were taken at
KMHRP. Sometimes pictures from other local
sites are used, when for instance my Shrike
photo from Madrona Marsh scanned better,
or isn't a slide, etc.,. All represent
the birds and habitats found at KMHRP.
Over 80% were actually taken in KMHRP,
and sometimes "not-my-best-shot" was used
to keep as many as possible from KMHRP.
Over 75 species are shown so far, and more
will be coming soon. Some have "multiple
poses" to show them sitting, and in flight.
Others have multiple plumages, usually
adults and immatures, or males and females.
Besides showing the incredible beauty of
the birds at KMHRP, part of the desire
is to help a non-birder be able to
identify a bird they saw at the park.
So, most shown are common species,
easily seen at KMHRP.
Only a few rare birds are shown.
